Hadi: PAS supports Parti Wawasan Negara joining PN, Bersatu free to decide future
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has officially confirmed that Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) supports the bid by Parti Wawasan Negara (PWN) to join the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. This move is seen as a significant step in the ongoing efforts to consolidate political forces within the opposition bloc.
During his address, Abdul Hadi emphasized that while PAS is open to welcoming new entities into the coalition to bolster its collective strength, the autonomy of its current members must be respected. He specifically noted that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) remains entirely free to decide its own political direction and determine its own future within the current political landscape.
The endorsement of Parti Wawasan Negara's entry into PN highlights the evolving dynamics of the coalition. As Malaysian politics continues to undergo shifts, the ability of major blocs to integrate new parties while maintaining stability between their core components—namely PAS and Bersatu—remains a critical factor for their long-term viability.
Political observers suggest that the movement to expand the coalition's membership could be an attempt to broaden the opposition's appeal and strengthen its presence ahead of future electoral contests. However, the internal relationship and strategic alignment between PAS and Bersatu continue to be a focal point of interest for analysts, as any decision regarding party affiliation or coalition expansion carries significant implications for the country's parliamentary balance of power.
